Radio Telescope
UC Berkeley, 2011 to 2013. Undergraduate researcher.
A radio telescope designed, built, and programmed from scratch, plus a summer restoring a receiver at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
What I did
- Designed and built the telescope in Berkeley’s radio astronomy lab.
- At NRAO Green Bank, restored a radio receiver and built a mounting station to search for radio transients.
- Devised a new technique for removing radio interference from large transient-search datasets.
What happened
Presented the NRAO work to observatory staff and the West Virginia Governor’s School.
